Telecom Problem Hits Porkpa District

By D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, January 16 (LINA) – Residents of Porkpa District in Grand Cape Mount County are facing telecommunication problem, forcing them to seek vantage points up trees and hills to communicate outside the district.

Some residents have to travel long distances in search of signal, while their phones are literally inaccessible within most of the district.

Confirming the information to our correspondent Thursday, Porkpa District Commissioner Lawrence Brown noted that residents of Damballa Town are among the most affected in the district.

“This situation has been going on for years and is affecting the people economically as many of them depend on their relatives and friends abroad to send them money and others things for their livelihood,” Brown pointed out.

He is appealing to GSM companies to construct towers in the district and other parts of the county to ease the communication problem being experienced by residents.
