School Principal Appeals For Govt’s Subsidy
By Richard D Baysah, LINA Margibi County Correspondent
KAKATA, January 13 (LINA) -The Principal of the St. Augustine’s Episcopal Mission High School in Kakata City, Margibi County is appealing to government to subsidize faith-based institutions across the country.
Mr. Abe Kekula said the Liberian Government should also provide these schools with Ebola prevention supplies before the start of the new academic year.
He told the Liberia News Agency in Kakata Monday that there is a need for the Liberian Government to provide subsidies to schools, especially with Ebola prevention materials, to enable them become more responsive in preventing students from contracting the virus.
According to him, if the government provides subsidies to private schools, what will encourage them to reduce their tuition to enable parents pay their children’s school fees.
Kekula said while he welcomes government’s pronouncement to reopen schools on February 2, however, the exclusion of other stakeholders in the educational system, especially faith-based institutions, from the decision-making process is regrettable.
He urged school administrators to ensure that their schools abide by the Ebola preventive measures as prescribed by health authorities.
