Gbarpolu Magisterial Court Lacks Logistics

BOPOLU CITY, Feb 4 (LINA) - Gbarpolu County Stipendiary Magistrate, R. Zenneh Walters, has disclosed that the only magisterial court in the county lacks typewriters, stationery and other supplies to facilitate the smooth dispensation of its judicial functions.
He told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) recently in Bopolu City that all of the typewriters provided by the Supreme Court over two years ago were damaged prior to the close of court in 2013.
He said due to the poor condition of the equipment, the Clerk of Court frequently interrupts court proceedings whenever the machines develop problems.
Magistrate Walters said the situation is serious and requires that urgent action be taken by authorities in Monrovia to ensure the effective functioning of the court.
He said the court has made efforts to have the three damaged typewriters repaired, but due to the lack of a repairer in the county, the machines cannot be fixed.
Magistrate Walters said his appeal comes against the background that the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of the county has only a week to commence regular business.
