Nimba Supt. Seeks US$1.25m To Upgrade Feeder Roads

By Wellington G. Patrick, LINA Nimba County Correspondent

SANNIQULLIE, January 6 (LINA) - Nimba County Superintendent Fong Zuagele is requesting the amount of US$1.25 million from the coffers of the County Development Fund (CDF) to rehabilitate feeder roads across the county.

In an interview with a team of journalists in Sanniquellie on Monday, Zuagele pointed out that several roads and bridges across the county are damaged, rendering communities inaccessible for locals to take their farm produce to the markets.

He observed that if the road rehabilitation proposal is given support at the upcoming County Council sitting in February, the county will not only reduce hunger in its fast growing cities, but will also ease the huge transportation constraints in remote parts.

Zuagele named some of the worst affected regions as Gbee and Dwuru, Kparblee Administrative District and Buu Yao Administrative District that need quick intervention to bring relief to the people.

He called on the county’s Legislative Caucus to place in the county’s coffers funds that are being kept in the treasury of the Central Bank of Liberia, adding, “Without the funding, we cannot make any significant impact in our county development drive.”
