Lofa Youths Pat NEC, LNP For Peaceful Poll

By Korboi K Gbelewala LINA Lofa Correspondent

VOINJAMA, January 6 (LINA) - Lofa Youth for Progressive Change (LYPC) has commended the National Election Commission (NEC), Liberia National Police (LNP) Lofa detachment and citizens for the free, fair and peaceful senatorial election in the county.

LYPC said the peaceful manner in which the December 20, 2014 Mid-term Senatorial Election was held void of confusion and acrimony demonstrates the willingness of the people of Lofa to seek the path of peace, democracy and unity.

In an interview with the Liberia News Agency recently, LYPC Chairman James Fassama said commendation was necessary due to the professional and mature manner in which all stakeholders conducted themselves.

Fassama assured that LYPC will continue its advocacy for peace, reconciliation and unity amongst Lofians though there has been no incident of violence or protest reported so far.

He urged the newly-elected Senator,  Stephen Zargo,  to avoid tribalism, corruption and division, noting that such acts could divert the county from the task of growth and development.
