ASPEN  Trains 140 ETU Workers in Gbarpolu

BOPOLU, Gbarpolu County, December 30 (LINA) – One hundred and forty medical and non-medical personnel recently recruited by Boyasay Shelloet, an international Non-Governmental Organization, havecommenced a four-day training in ETU operation at the Bopolu City Hall.

The training is being implemented by Aspen Medicine, an international NGO which is the training implementing arm of the PAE in Liberia.

Aspen Medicine Trainer and Physician Assistant Matthan Saa, told the Liberia News Agency that following the training the participants will work in the newly constructed Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU).

He noted that the training will enable the participants to know about the risk and danger involved in working in an ETU and what they need to do to be able to save the lives of persons infected with the disease.

He said 30 of the 140 participants will also form part of the training to coordinate the medical aspect at the ETU complimenting the efforts of the non-medical staff.

He disclosed that the participants will be taught how to be disciplined in implementing all safety requirements including the
constant wearing of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as well as the overview of the Ebola situation in Liberia.

The ETU will be officially opened for normal operations on January 6, 2015.
