Campaign Activities Overwhelm Grand Gedeh Following Supreme Court Ruling

ZWEDRU, December 16 (LINA) - Political campaigns throughout the length and breadth of Grand Gedeh County resumed in full swing few hours after the Supreme Court lifted the stay order on the midterm senatorial elections.

All political camps which have been monitoring the court order simultaneously got on their heels as aspirants began arriving on an hourly basis following the result from the Supreme Court which gave the National Election Commission the go-ahead to conduct the election.

Candidates contesting the senatorial poll in Grand Gedeh are Charles Breeze of the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC), Dr. George E.Saigbe. Boley of the Peoples Unification Party (PUP), Samuel K. Doe Jr. of the SKD Independent Movement and William K. Glay Sr. of the Alternative National Congress (ANC).

Others are William Y. Glay of the National Patriotic Party (NPP), Thomas Yaya Nimely of the Liberty Party (LP), Zoe Emmanuel Pennue of the Movement for Development and Rev. Cecelia K. Towah of GRDP, all of whom have begun engaging voters to elect them come December 20.

Other aspirants expected to arrive in the county include A. Marshal Dennis of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Cyrus Cooper of
the Alliance for Peace and Democracy (APD) and independent candidate former house speaker George S. Dweh Sr.

Since the candidates resumed campaigning, there has been no report of violence from supporters of any of the aspirants; supporters are seen dancing through the major streets in the capital Zwedru to meet their candidates.
