Health Workers In Grand Gedeh Trained In Ebola Prevention, Treatment
By Chris Nyenapee, LINA Grand Gedeh County Correspondent

ZWEDRU, December 11 (LINA) - A week-long training in Ebola awareness, detection, suspicion, prevention and treatment for community health volunteers and health workers from across Grand Gedeh County has ended in Zwedru.

The workshop which was organized and facilitated by experts from the U.S Army and members of the County Health Team, brought together sixty participants from communities and health centers across the county.

Speaking at the close of the workshop, the focal person of the Incidence Management System of the Ministry of Health of the county, Dr. C. Allison Payga said the training will help to build the capacity of health workers in the fight against Ebola.

At the end of the workshop, the U.S. Army team proceeded to Sinoe County to conduct similar training.

They instructed the county health team to embark on a vigorous Ebola prevention and awareness campaign across major towns and district headquarters and to educate residents about the operation of an Ebola testing lab in the county.

In remarks at the closing ceremony, the county health team coordinator, Netus Nowena, called on the participants to put into practice the knowledge they acquired at the workshop and to report people showing signs and symptoms of Ebola to the newly established lab for early treatment.
