NEC Official Cautions Journalists On Election Reporting

By Johnson Bobby Liway, LINA Grand Bassa County Correspondent

BUCHANAN, December 1 (LINA) - The National Elections Commission (NEC) Co-chairman, Davidetta Browne-Lansanah, has cautioned media practitioners to be professional in reporting events relative to the conduct of the mid-term senatorial election.

She made the statement at the close of a two-day election reporting workshop for journalists in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County organized by NEC in collaboration with the Press Union of Liberia and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).

The workshop brought together more than 50 journalists from three counties, including Montserrado, River Cess and Grand Bassa, to be trained in the role of the media in elections, media code of conduct, polling and counting procedures, among others.

The workshop which ended over the weekend was held under the theme “Regional Media Workshop on Polling and Counting Procedures.”

Also speaking, NEC Communication Officer Joey Kennedy called on the participants to put to practice what they learned at the workshop in their reportage.
