By Korboi K. Gbelewala, LINA Lofa County Correspondent

VOINJAMA, November 28 (LINA) -A 13-year-old rape victim is said to have died at the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital in Voinjama City Lofa County.

According to the Liberia News Agency, the minor died two weeks after she was raped by a 65 year-old man identified as Amara Talawally in the Selega Road Community suburb of Voinjama City.

Making the disclosure to reporters in Voinjama City Friday, Lofa County Attorney J. Luther Sumo said medical doctors assigned at the hospital pronounced the victim dead at 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 27.

Attorney Sumo alleged that the little girl died from several wounds she sustained as a result of being raped on three separate occasions by Talawally.

Talawally has repeatedly denied committing the act.

Following preliminary investigation by the Liberia National Police, suspect Talawally was charged with Statutory Rape and has been transferred to the 10th Judicial Circuit Court in Voinjama for prosecution.

Meanwhile, family members of victim are appealing to government to speedily dispense justice in the rape case that led to the death of their 13 year-old daughter.
