Ebola Cases In Taylor-Ta Troubling Bong CHT
By Ballah Kollie, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, November 24 (LINA) - The Bong County Health Team (CHT) has reported 22 new cases in a week, despite reduction in the number of Ebola cases across the country.

According to the Bong County Health Team Administrator Fatorma Jusu, 10 of the 22 cases are confirmed, one probable and 11 suspected.

Jusu attributed the emergence of new Ebola cases in the county to the outbreak in Taylor-ta that has now crossed over to Bomota and Gbatala, all of which are adjacent Taylor-Ta in Yelequelleh District, Bong County.

Addressing the regular Ebola response Taskforce briefing Monday at the Phebe Compound, Jusu noted that the breach of quarantine rules by residents of Taylor-ta prompted the latest development and stressed the need for urgent redress to the situation.

He observed that unless the breaching  of quarantine measures is addressed, Bong County runs the risk of experiencing a resurgence of the Ebola virus as 30 residents of Taylor-ta have been infected with the disease, 10 of whom have died.

The Bong Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) has cured over 33 of its Cumulative admission of 243 patients and discharged 121 who were tested negative of the virus.

The center currently holds 24 cases of which 22 are confirmed, while 2 are suspected.
