LNRCS Coordinator Nudges Volunteerism
By Ballah Kollie, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, November 12 (LINA) – The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) has stressed the need for citizens of Bong County to engage in volunteerism.

LNRCS Program Officer for Bong Chapter, Roland Enders, made the call Wednesday in Gbarnga in an interview with the Liberia News Agency.

Enders indicated that volunteerism should be taken seriously by citizens of the county, especially as the country battles the Ebola virus.

He indicated that as a humanitarian organization, the LNRCS has touched the lives of over 71,700 people or 14,713 households in ten of the county’s 13 administrative districts through the delivery of humanitarian services.

According to him, his institution has also provided safe drinking water, First Aid Training, Family Tracing, Counseling, as well as Psycho-social Mobilization in the county.

Meanwhile, Enders has extolled the cooperation between the LNRCS and the Bong County Health Team and partners, particularly the Danish Red Cross that has supported their operations in the county.

The National Red Cross, which has branches in 189 countries, became active in Liberia in 1976.
