Ebola Claims 15 In River Cess
By Johnson Bobby Liway, LINA Grand Bassa County Correspondent

BUCHANAN, November 10 (LINA) - A Fresh outbreak of Ebola has hit Kaeyah Town in River Cess County, leaving 15 people dead.

Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency via telephone from Cestos City on Sunday, Mayor Sarah Zeo said five others are in critical condition, while 16 people have tested positive for the virus.

Zeo expressed fear that the virus could spread to other towns, villages and chiefdoms if nothing is done speedily by national health authorities and partners to put the situation under control.

She attributed the recent Ebola outbreak in Kaeyah Town to a lady who returned to the town from Monrovia with severe fever and was treated by sorcerers who claimed that the sickness was witchcraft

Zeo disclosed that those who helped to treat and later bury the lady have all died or fallen ill, causing residents to flee the town into the forest.

All efforts by LINA to contact the River Cess County Health Officer (CHO), Dr. Wilmot L. Smith, proved futile.

Kaeyah Town is located few kilometers from the Timbo River Bridge which borders Grand Bassa and River Cess counties.
