KAKATA, November 7 (LINA) – A total of 31 confirmed, suspected and probable Ebola cases have been recorded in Margibi County between October 29 and November 4,  health authorities have disclosed.

The Director of Community Health Services of the Margibi County Health Team, Joseph Korhene, told a regular County Ebola Taskforce meeting in Kakata Friday that three confirmed, 11 probable and 17 suspected cases were recorded during the period.

He said in the previous week, O9ctober 22 to 28, a total of 39 cases were reported when updates were given during the Task Force meeting on October 31.

The current update, however, shows a decrease by eight in the number of affected persons compared to the previous week, he pointed out.

Giving details of cases per health district, Korhene said 17 cases were reported in Kakata, six in Gibi and eight in Firestone, while no case was reported in Mamba-Kaba District.

He said from October 29 to November 5, seven deaths were confirmed while 24 are receiving treatment at Ebola Treatment Units (ETUs) in Monrovia and Bong County.

Korhene also revealed that eight persons were discharged from the Bong County ETU during the week under review, while 24 were referred to other health facilities for treatment.

He called on residents of Margibi County to continue to adhere to preventive measures, warning that “complacency at this time of the Ebola fight is very dangerous as there are more cases in the county.”
