Senator Taylor Seeks Extension Of State Of Emergency
By Winnie Dixon/LINA

MONROVIA, November 4 (LINA) – Bong County Senator Jewel Howard Taylor is appealing to members of the Senate to extend the State of Emergency for an additional one month.

According to the Senator, the extension will enable authorities of the Ministry of Health to  carry out  additional contact tracing, as the country is a little far from eradicating the Ebola virus.

She indicated that the additional time is important as it will help in getting rid of the virus sooner than later.

Following the reading of her communication Tuesday, which was dated October 28, the body went into Executive Session to further discuss the document.

In the wake of the escalation of the Ebola virus, the Government of Liberia in early August 2014 announced a three-month State of Emergency.

The emergency period is expected to end on Thursday, November 6.
