Malian President Pays Solidarity Visit to Liberia

MONROVIA, Nov 1 (LINA)-The President of Mali, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, Saturday paid a one-day solidarity visit to Liberia.

During the visit, the Malian President held closed door discussionswith President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf at her Foreign Ministry office in Monrovia.

Addressing a press briefing following the discussions, President Johnson Sirleaf described the Malian President’s visit as a big pat for Liberia.

“We are touched that you could take your time to come to exchange solidarity with us in our time of need,” the Liberian leader said.

She expressed gratitude to the Malian leader for the occasional phone calls he made to chat with her and express his sympathy.

The Liberian leader then expressed best wishes to the people of Mali who recently registered their first case of Ebola.

In remarks, President Keita said he was happy to come to show solidarity with the Liberian people, adding, “ I could not stay at home and just make phone calls. I have come to express sympathy to the Liberian people”.

President Keita expressed optimism that with the level of mobilization of the people, Ebola will soon become a thing of the past.
