MONROVIA, October 27 (LINA) –Medical equipment and building materials valued at US$82 million arrived on a special flight from China to construct a100-bed Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville outside Monrovia.

In an interview with the Liberia News Agency Sunday at the Roberts International Airport, Chinese Ambassador, Zhang Yue, said the unit is the fourth round of China’s assistance towards Ebola control in West Africa.

He said it will be staffed and operated by Chinese doctors and nurses assisted by local health workers.

Meanwhile, an advance 15-man Chinese medical team, comprising doctors, epidemiologists, designers, engineers and technicians, arrived in the country on Saturday to help in the construction of the ETU.

It can be recalled that China donated US$1million to the Liberian Government and logistics to the Liberian National Police (LNP) worth US$211,781.71 in support of the eradication of Ebola in the country.
