ZWEDRU, October 19 (LINA) - The Chief Medical Officer of the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital in Zwedru, Dr. Elsie Karmbor, has appealed to government and its partners to expand the Ebola Holding Center to accommodate to growing number of patients.
Dr. Karmbor also asked for upgrading of the road linking the hospital to the main paved road in Zwedru, noting that this will enable easy access to the facility.
Dr. Karmbor appeal comes in the wake of increase in the number of people under observation for contact with Ebola suspects at private residences due to lack of space at the holding center.
The County Health Team (CHT) has reported a total of 46 contacts are at both private residences and the only holding center which can no longer accommodate in-coming cases.
She emphasized the importance of observation at the center rather than at homes to ensure better monitoring.
Meanwhile, 19 persons recently held for observation following the first positive Ebola case in mid-September have been released and re-unified with their families after 21 days, according to County Health Services Coordinator, Netus Nowina.
