Bomi County Medical Officer Appeals To Health Workers To Resume Work
By David Seedee, LINA Bomi County Correspondent

TUBMANBURG, October 14 (LINA) - The Bomi County acting Health Officer, Dr. Gorbee Logan, is appealing to striking health workers to reconsider their decision and return work.

Dr. Logan is also appealing to the County Legislative Caucus and the county administration to prevail on the health workers to see reason to return to work for the sake of the people of Bomi County.

He said any attempt to back off, especially from the Quarantine Unit, will lead to the loss of more lives which, he noted, will not be good for the Liberian people.

Dr. Logan said even though the Government Hospital in Tubmanburg has few health workers around, they cannot do the actual work of the nurses.

According to the Bomi County Health Team, the county has 24 health facilities and more than 430 health workers, noting that almost all of the facilities have closed due to the strike action.

Health workers in Bomi joined their colleagues across the country to go on strike on Monday in demand of the reinstatement of two officials of the National Health Workers Association and the upward adjustment of their hazard allowances.

The health workers said they will not return to work until their demands are met by the Government of Liberia.
