Cllr Sherman Donates To Construct Islamic School

By D. Ignatius Roberts, Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, Jan 26 (LINA) - The Islamic High School in Damballah Town, Porkpa Statutory District in Grand Cape Mount County has broken ground to construct a school complex.

The ground-breaking ceremony was performed at the weekend by the Assistant Superintendent for Development, Mrs. Tenneh Simpson Kpedebah, assisted by District Commissioner Lawrence Brown and other prominent citizens of the county.

In remarks, Madam Kpedebah said funding for the project has been provided by a son of the county, Counselor Varney Sherman, who she said donated US$12,000 to the project.

Madam Kpedebah admonished community dwellers to refrain from acts that could undermine the work of the contractors so that work will be completed on schedule.

Earlier, Cllr. Sherman said he had decided to build a high school in the district to provide an opportunity for the children to learn and become effective, efficient and productive citizens.

He said the reconstruction of the county in the aftermath of the civil war should claim the attention of every citizen and not only the government.
