CSA Boss Calls For Support to Civil Service Reform
By Calvin Brooks

MONROVIA, October 9 (LINA) -The Director General of the Civil Service Agency (CSA), George Werner, has challenged civil servants to support the public sector reform process in Liberia.

Werner said as a result of the reform process based on international standard, the American Government provided US$5 million to pay health workers to help curtail
the outbreak of Ebola in Liberia.

The CSA boss made the statement Thursday at the Internal Reform Update and Non-Essential Awareness Workshop for deputy and assistant ministers as well as human resource personnel of government ministries and agencies held at a local hotel in the Monrovia suburb of Sinkor.

The workshop was organized by the CSA, in collaboration with the Liberia Institute for Public Administration (LIPA), and the Governance Commission (GC).

He indicated that Liberia will have a brighter future if the public sector meets international standards to enhance the performance of civil servants in the country.

“The reform process might be painful and difficult for Liberia, but it is essential to implement the public sector reform to ensure the

improvement and development of the nation‘s workforce to be more
productive,” he added.

Werner emphasized that the setting up of the internal reform committee in the various ministries and agencies is significant to enhance public sector reform and equip civil servants with the requisite knowledge and skills to improve productivity.
