Lofa Youth Campaigning Against New Outbreak

VOINJAMA, October 6 (LINA) - In an effort to prevent a new outbreak of the Ebola virus in Lofa County, the Lofa Youth Development Network has launched a month-long Ebola awareness and sensitization campaign in the county.

The campaign, which was launched on Monday in Voinjama, is aimed at buttressing government’s efforts in fighting the disease in the County.

Speaking during the launch of the awareness campaign, LYDN Chairman James Dennis said the campaign will be carried out simultaneously in towns, villages and cities across Lofa County.

According to the Liberia News Agency, Mr. Dennis said despite the fact that there has not been new Ebola cases or deaths reported in the county since October 1, LYDN deemed it necessary to continue to sensitize citizens and foreign residents to take precautionary measures.

He said his organization has recruited over 175 youths to carry out the month-long sensitization campaign on voluntary basis.

Meanwhile, the LYDN boss lauded government and its partners for their role in the fight against the Ebola virus, and hoped the virus would be eradicated soon.

Mr. Dennis is at the same time calling on citizens of the county to continue following preventive to prevent  a new outbreak of the disease in the county.
