Pres. Sirleaf Congratulates Nigeria on 54th Independence Anniversary

MONROVIA, October 1 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a congratulatory message to the Government and People of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the auspicious occasion marking that country’s 54th Independence Anniversary.

In the message to her Nigerian counterpart, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, President Sirleaf, on behalf of Liberia, extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Government and People of Nigeria, as that West African state observes its 54th Independence Anniversary.

The Liberian leader hoped that the cordial ties of friendship and cooperation existing between the two countries and peoples will be further strengthened in the spirit of African unity and solidarity.

President Sirleaf thanked the Nigerian Government for their vital contribution in the fight against the deadly Ebola virus disease that is ravaging Liberia and the West African Region as they work together in furtherance of deeper cooperation at the United Nations and other international organizations aimed at promoting international peace and security among all nations.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the Liberian leader also prayed that the Almighty God will continue to endow President Jonathan with abundant wisdom and strength as he leads his people to noble heights.
