192 Discharged From ELWA ETU, Says MSF Official
By Robert Dixon

MONROVIA, September 29 (LINA) -A total of 192 Ebola patients have been discharged from the ELWA III Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) in Paynesville after fully recovering from the disease, the Emergency Coordinator of Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) has disclosed.

Laurence Sailly told a news conference Monday that the ETU has received 858 confirmed cases since it started operation on August 18, 2014, noting that 40 percent of this number has survived the disease.

She said even though the Ebola disease is deadly and dangerous, there is a possibility of survival if infected persons receive early treatment as exemplified by the number of persons who have recovered and discharged.

She then warned against hiding sick relatives and friends suspected of the disease, noting that they should be taken to any health facility or to the MSF Center for treatment.

Sailly noted that the center has the capacity to accommodate more patients, noting that an additional 200 beds have been added to the units.

Meanwhile, Madam Sailly has disclosed that the MSF last week distributed 13,255 disinfectant kits to residents of the Borough of New Kru Town, John F. Kennedy
Memorial Hospital, Redemption Hospital and the ELWA Hospital.
