Justice Ministry Plans Anti-Mob Violence Campaign

By Richard Stephens

MONROVIA JAN 23(LINA) - The Ministry of Justice will Saturday, January 25, launch a one-year nationwide campaign to sensitize the Liberian people against mob violence in the pursuit of redress.

The ministry’s Director of Communications, Ms. Maude Somah, said the campaign will be launched in collaboration with the Ministries of Information, Internal Affairs and the U.N. Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) at the Slipway Sports Pitch in Monrovia.

She said the campaign will be under the theme; ‘’Stop Mob Violence, Use the Rule of Law’’.

Ms. Somah told the Liberia News Agency Thursday that mob violence was on rise in the country, leading to the deaths of people who are simply crime suspects.

She said the Liberia National Police, which is the first instance of justice, will form part of the campaign, adding that five Liberian artists will grace the event with a song: “that’s not the way to use the law’’.
