Gbarpolu Closes Border With Bong
By Emmanuel Mondaye, LINA Gbarpolu County Correspondent

BOPOLU, September 28 (LINA) -The Gbarpolu County Ebola Task Force has closed its side of the border at the Marwa River with Bong County for one month.

According to Dr. Trokon Washington, the Task Force reached the decision Thursday during its weekly meeting held in Bopolu City.

Dr. Washington, a member of the Ebola Task Force, said the crossing point was closed due to the outbreak of the Ebola disease in the Marwa area in Bong County.

He disclosed that to ensure that people do not enter the county by the river security forces have been deployed and mandated not to allow entry via the river from Bong into Gbarpolu.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) Civil Affairs Division in Bopolu has begun construction work on an Ebola Holding Center.

UNMIL last month agreed to undertake the project in collaboration with the County Ebola Task Force to ensure that people infected with the Ebola virus are quarantined.

The Holding Center, when completed, will be the first in the county since the Task Force was constituted months ago to coordinate all Ebola-related cases in the county.
