UNMIL Building Ebola Center In Cape Mount
By D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, September 25 (LINA) -The United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) has embarked on the construction of an Ebola Withholding Center in Grand Cape Mount County at a cost of US$30,000.

The project kicked off on Monday, September 22, 2014 in Sinje Town, Garwula district following the provision of land by the leadership of the county.

This was disclosed by the UNMIL Human Rights activist assigned to Grand Cape Mount County, Ame Ogbigbo, during the County Ebola Task Force Coordination Meeting held Wednesday in Sinje.

She said when the withholding center is completed there will no longer be need to transport suspected Ebola patients to Monrovia for medical treatment.

Madame Ogbigbo added that there will also be no need for the county health team to quarantine suspected Ebola patients in their homes, noting that quarantining suspected Ebola patients in their homes has the propensity to spread the virus in the communities.

She said when the people are in the withholding center, they will receive intensive medical care that could save their lives.

Madame Ogbigbo said the fight against the Ebola virus should not be the responsibility of the government alone, but needs the collective efforts of all.
