By Ballah M. Kollie, Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA Jan 23 (LINA) - Authorities of Bong County are undertaking a water project costing US$69,000 that will see the construction of 21 hand pumps across the county in 2014.

The Internal Affairs Ministry Project Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in the county, Daniel T, Tentay, said the contractor has already received US$34,198 as advance payment and that the project will begin in February.

He told the Liberia News Agency that the  lack of pipe-borne water provided by the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation is posing safe drinking water problem for citizens.

He said the 21 hand pumps project is intended to address the shortage of clean, safe drinking water in Bong County.
