USAID, Partner Donate Equipment To Radio Bomi

TUBMANBURG, September 18 (LINA) –The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with IREX has donated US$26,000 worth of studio equipment to Radio Bomi.
Presenting the equipment on Wednesday in Tubmanburg, USAID acting Deputy Mission Director Linda Bowen said the offer is in response to a request made by the station management.
Director Bowen said the equipment include a 550 Watt Transmitter, On-Air Control Panel, Recorders and Microphones.
She said the gesture is intended to put the station back on the air so that it can disseminate Ebola preventive messages and other vital information to the Western Region.
Receiving the equipment, Radio Bomi Station Manager Zinnah Cassell said Bomi County citizens are grateful for the timely intervention of USAID and its partners.
He said the recent fire that gutted that station greatly affected the information dissemination of the station to the people of the Western Region.
He said before the fifre incident, Radio Bomi signals covered Bomi, Gbarpolu and Grand Cape Mount counties;
Authorities of Bomi County, UNMIL, Liberia Media Center and Civil Society Organizations, among others, attended the presentation ceremony.
