Rep. Forh Says Island Clinic ETU ‘Praiseworthy’

MONROVIA, September 15 (LINA) – Montserrado County District 16 Representative Edward Forh has said the Ebola Treatment Unit (ETU) at the Island Clinic is a “step in the right direction, as it would help reduce the number of deaths in the area.”
The Government of Liberia over the weekend turned over a100-bed ETU at the Island Clinic on the Bushrod Island for use in the fight against the deadly virus.
Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency on Monday, Forh indicated his hope is that Ebola Treatment Units “will be replicated across the country.”
The lawmaker said it is important that treatment units are situated in such locations like the Island Clinic which will serve particular geographical regions of the country.
He noted that the ETUh as the potential to treat persons from western Liberia, including Grand Cape Mount, Bomi and Gbarpolu Counties, while also serving the Gardnersville and Bushrod Island areas of Monrovia.
Rep. Forh applauded the citizens for their receptiveness and called on health workers to take all necessary steps to ensure that no contamination or infection spreads from the center to nearby communities.
