Red Cross Trains 65 In Ebola Awareness

By D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, September 15 (LINA) -The Liberia National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) Grand Cape Mount County Chapter has trained 65 persons in Ebola awareness and contact tracing.

This was disclosed by the chapter Field Officer, Konah Paul, during the county Ebola Task Force Coordination Meeting held recently in Sinje, Grand Cape Mount County.

Paul said the training was intended to buttress the County Health Team (CHT) in its fight against the spread of the virus in the county, the Liberia News Agency reports.

The LNRCS official said the trainees have been deployed in towns and villages on the border with neighboring Sierra Leone, which also has an Ebola outbreak, to educate the people on prevention of the disease.

Paul said Contact Tracing is one of the key components through which the spread of the virus in communities can be contained.

She called on rural dwellers to cooperate with the Contact Tracers so that together they can kick the virus out of the county and Liberia as a whole.

Recently the Red Cross trained 75 persons in sensitization and mobilization in the fight against the disease.
