Maryland Police Charge Man, 27, With Statutory Rape

By John N. Bropleh, LINA Maryland County Correspondent

HARPER, September 15 (LINA) - Police in Harper, Maryland County have arrested and charged a 27-year-old man identified as George Paul with Statutory Rape.

Paul, a resident of Hoffman Station in Harper, reportedly raped a girl, 17, who was on her way home at night from a vedio club in the same community.

Maryland County Police Commander David Walker told LINA recently that Paul, who admitted committing the act during police investigation, said he intercepted the girl, whose name was withheld, and took her into his room where he committed the act.

The girl for her part told police that Paul demanded money from her when he took her into his room.

She said when she told Paul that she did not have money Paul told her, ‘’I will then sleep with you in place of the money.’’

Meanwhile, Paul has been forwarded to court for prosecution, while the victim is undergoing treatment at a local clinic.
