Court Charges Ivorian Refugee With Statutory Rape

HARPER, September 14 (LINA) -An Ivorian Refugee in Maryland County has been arraigned before the Fourth Judicial Circuit Court in Harper for alleged statutory rape.

The 30-year -old Ivorian from the Little Wlebo Refugee Camp was recently arrested and charged by the Liberian National Police.

The refugee only identified as Djabated reportedly raped a 14 year-old Ivorian refugee girl on the camp on 29th August.

He reportedly had intercourse with the victim on three occasions on the camp hosting over 10,000 refugees.

The camp was established by Government in 2011 during the Ivorian civil crisis to accommodate fleeing Ivorians who came to the country in search of safety.
