NPP Lauds Govt’s Effort In Ebola Fight

By Richard Stephens

MONROVIA, September 12 (LINA) -The opposition National Patriotic Party (NPP) has lauded the efforts of the Government of Liberia in the ongoing fight against the Ebola virus in the country.

NPP Secretary-General Andrew Peters pointed out that the government was taking vigilant steps in ensuring that the deadly virus is eradicated from Liberia.

According to the Liberia News Agency, the NPP official made the commendation Friday at a press conference hosted at the party’s headquarters in Sinkor.

Meanwhile, Mr. Peters has called on politicians to put aside their differences and join the government in the fight against the virus, noting, “This is no time for politicking but rather a national fight against an unseen enemy.”

He added that the fight also requires the involvement of all state actors who must disseminate the right information to their various constituencies about the danger of the disease.

The NPP official is at the same time appealing to government to ensure the re-opening of all major hospitals and health centers in the country that were closed as the result of the Ebola outbreak, adding that “this will help to boost the fight against the virus.”

He then commended the international community for the level of assistance to Liberia since the outbreak of the disease more than six months ago.

Mr. Peters reiterated calls for Liberians to take all precautionary measures aimed at preventing the spread of the epidemic.
