NGO Official Upbeat About Ebola Success Stories

By Richard Baysah, LINA Margibi County Correspondent

KAKATA, September 11 (LINA) - The Field Operations Manager of Save The Children International in Margibi County, Mr. Charles Seeve, has expressed joy about the success stories coming from various treatment centers across the country.

Seeve told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) that despite the numerous challenges faced by health workers and international partners, there were more success stories coming from the Ebola Treatment Units, adding “the fight is tough and very challenging but there are significant gains being made”.

Seeve made the statement on Wednesday when delivered some assorted sanitary items to the Charles Henry Rennie Memorial Hospital in Kakata, Margibi County.

He observed that practical community approach is the best option in the fight against the Ebola virus in the country.

Seeve said when this option is adopted, pockets of disbelievers and denials will be addressed head-on.

He said involving community people that will be trained in spreading awareness messages about the Ebola virus will help to stop the continuous spread of the disease in communities.

He further noted that more needs to be done in creating a speedy robust public awareness campaign in every town and village, backed by video documentaries which will help immensely, adding, “Picture speaks volumes and attracts attention faster than just talk shows on radio and jingles.”

He then called on Liberians to join government and its international partners in the fight against the Ebola pandemic that has caused the health sector of the country to come to a virtual standstill.
