U.S. Military To Build Ebola Unit In Cape Mount
By D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent
ROBERTSPORT, September 11 (LINA) -The head of the Grand Cape Mount County Health Team (CHT), Dr. Julius Garbo, has said the U. S. Military Mission in Liberia has agreed to construct an Ebola Case Treatment Unit (CTU) for the county valued at US$30,000.
According to the Liberia News Agency (LINA), Dr.Garbo made the disclosure Wednesday during the County Ebola Task Force Coordination meeting held in Sinje, Garwula District.
He said the CTU construction agreement was recently reached between the US Military Mission and the Ministry of National Defense and that the administration of Garwula District has made land available for the project.
The CHT head said the project, which is expected to commence shortly, will be completed within a period of three weeks.
Dr. Garbo said upon completion of the CTU, health workers will treat patients in the county to avoid transporting them to Monrovia and other parts of the country.
He said due to the lack of a CTU, suspected, probable and confirmed Ebola cases have to be transferred to other centers for treatment.
