Pres. Sirleaf Off To World Economic Forum In Switzerland

MONROVIA, Jan 21 (LINA) -President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf left the country Tuesday for Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, to participate in events of the World Economic Forum.

The World Economic Forum is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the theme of this year’s forum is “The Reshaping of the World: Consequences for Society, Politics and Business.”

President Sirleaf will address the Plenary Session and be a Panelist on the subject of “Reshaping the World through Entrepreneurship, Education and Employment,” with her focus being employment and gender parity.

The Liberian President will participate, as a special guest and/or panelist, at various sessions during the Forum, which runs from January 22-25.

They include: Industry Partnership Meetings for Mining and Metals, as well as on Energy; an Africa-Japan Roundtable on TICAD follow-up;

Resilient Economies and the Water, Food & Energy Nexus; and an Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders:  Reshaping the Global Climate Agenda.

President Sirleaf will also attend a reception hosted by her alma mater, Harvard University; a private reception, followed by a private dinner, hosted by Professor Klaus Schwab – the founder of the World Economic Forum – and his wife, in honor of Heads of State and Government, international organizations, co-chairs, members of the Foundation Board, International Business Council and Strategic Partners.

She will also hold private meetings with mining executives and grant media interviews.

Upon her return home, President Sirleaf will, in fulfilment of her constitutional responsibility, deliver her ninth Annual Message, on the state of the nation, to the Third Session of the 53rd National Legislature on Monday, January 27, 2014.

While President Sirleaf is away from the country, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Morris M. Dukuly, will coordinate the affairs of State in consultation with Vice President Dr. Joseph N. Boakai, Sr.
