VP Boakai Extols Quadou Gboni’s Efforts In Ebola Fight

VOINJAMA, August 30 (LINA) - Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has extolled the efforts of citizens of Quadou Gboni District in the fight against the Ebola disease.
Speaking to a cross-section of citizens in Barkedou Town Friday, Vice President Boakai said government is “very much concerned” about the welfare of the citizens, and urged them to do more in the fight against the deadly disease in their district.
According to the Liberia News Agency, the Liberian Vice President, on behalf of government, also sympathized with the citizens for the loss of a number of their citizens to the Ebola disease since its outbreak in the district.
According to LINA, Ambassador Boakai presented 30,000 Liberian dollars to the Quadou Gboni Ebola Task Force to empower it to battle the disease in the district.
Speaking on behalf of the Quadou Gboni citizens, Paramount Chief Musa Kamara thanked Ambassador Boakai and the Liberian government for the concern shown, noting that the visit of the Vice President and other government officials is “a clear manifestation” that government is concerned about them.
According to health sources, Barkedou, in Quadou Gboni, is one of the most affected towns in Lofa County, registering at least 172 deaths from Ebola, with 20 survivors, who have been re-united with their families in the district.
