MONROVIA, August 23 (LINA) - Pleebo District Representative Bhofal Chambers has hailed the Supreme Court of Liberia for the construction of a Magisterial Court in Pleebo City, Maryland County.
Speaking to the Liberia News Agency on Saturday, Chambers noted that having judicial functionaries in a dedicated court building would contribute to a more independent judiciary and separation of powers in the county.
The new Magisterial Court, which was recently dedicated by a representative of Chief Justice Francis Korkpor, was the first in Pleebo in 40 years. The court formally operated from the City Hall.
“The bustling commercial nature of Pleebo as the largest city in Maryland County and the commercial capital for portion of Southeastern Liberia means that such a facility is indeed merited and has even been overdue,” he added.
Chambers also disclosed that he has high hopes that the new building will contribute to a higher level of the rule of law being observed by residents of Pleebo and foreign nationals doing business in the city.
