Bomi Opens Quarantne Unit
By David Seedee, LINA Bomi County Correspondent
TUBMANBURG, August 23 (LINA) - The newly-built Quarantine Unit at the Government Hospital in Tubmanburg has been officially opened, the acting County Health Officer (CHO), Dr. Gabriel Logan, has disclosed.
Dr. Logan said the Quarantine Unit is taking care of Ebola patients in the county.
Speaking to reporters in Tubmanburg recently, Dr. Logan, however, regretted that the hospital lacks food to feed patients in the unit.
He said since the outbreak of the disease in Liberia, patients at the unit have been using their own resources to feed themselves at the hospital.
Dr. Logan said there is no budget to feed Ebola patients in the Quarantine Unit and areas where they quarantine people in the communities.
The Acting Health Officer has, meanwhile, disclosed that at least 42 cases of the Ebola disease have been reported in Bomi County, with 24 deaths. He said 21 of the deaths were confirmed.
Dr. Logan is calling on the people of Bomi County to seek medical attention whenever they fall sick and continue to adhere to the preventive measures instituted by the Health Ministry to avoid contracting the disease.
