Cape Mount Supt. Bans Traditional Healing

By: D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, August 22 (LINA) -The administration of Grand Cape Mount County has issued a temporary ban on traditional healing by herbalists in the county.

County Superintendent Imam Mohammed Paasewe made the disclosure at an Ebola Taskforce Coordination meeting held in Sinje Town, Garwula District recently.

He said the administration decided to temporarily ban traditional healing because some of those who have been placed on the quarantine list by the County Health Team (CHT) are abandoning their homes and seeking traditional healing.

Superintendent Paasewe said such practice has the propensity to spread the Ebola virus in the county.

He warned that anyone found leaving the quarantine center to seek traditional healing will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He also warned traditional healers not to accept suspected Ebola patients to avoid spreading the virus.

Paasewe is accordingly urging citizens to immediately report to the joint security any suspected Ebola patient who attempts to leave the community for another location.
