ArcelorMittal Donates US$5k, Buckets To Bassa Task Force

BUCHANAN, August. 22 (LINA) – Iron ore mining firm, Arcelor Mittal, has donated US$5,000 and 200 buckets for hygienic use to the Grand Bassa Task Force to enhance the fight against Ebola in the county.

A senior member of the Task Force, Assistant Superintendent for Development Adoni Z. Greaves, disclosed to journalists during a press briefing Thursday that the donation was made on Tuesday, August 19.

Greaves said the money will be used to compensate the Ebola burial teams that are sacrificing their lives to dispose of dead victims and to purchase needed logistics for the Ebola Task Force.

He added that the buckets will be distributed among the districts and communities in Grand Bassa.

“This is for the sole purpose of curtailing the Ebola disease that has no border and no cure, but can be prevented,” Greaves noted.

The iron ore miner, a few months ago, built a quarantine unit at the Liberia Government Hospital in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, as a contribution to the Ebola fight.
