Minister Browne Explains West Point Quarantine

By Hilary Vasco Wiagbe

MIONROVIA, August 22 (LINA) –Information Minister Lewis Browne says the decision to quarantine West Point was necessary after the quarantine center in the township was vandalized by some residents.

Browne noted that the measure was appropriate to enable health workers reach people infected with the Ebola Virus to prevent it from spreading in the congested Township.

The Information Minister gave the clarification Friday in an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

He also maintained that the government’s decision became necessary in order to protect those who are not infested with the disease in the community.

Minister Brown disclosed that the government has already begun lifting food items and water to residents of the West Point Township.

He indicated that government was sensitive to the plight of people residing in the community, and as such it will do everything to ensure that they are protected and their welfare ensured.
