BUCHANAN, August 18 (LINA) - The opposition Liberty Party has donated assorted health materials to the District # 1 Ebola Task Force for use by citizens to contain the spread of the disease.
According to the Liberia News Agency, materials presented over the weekend in Dia-blae Statutory District, Grand Bassa County are 50 buckets, 40 cartoons of chlorine, 50 cartoons of soap, 5 cartoons of mega phones and 25,000 Liberian dollars.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Senator Nyonblee Karngar Lawrence told the citizens that it was the party’s contribution to the district in the fight against the Ebola disease.
She said because of distance and bad road condition, she would put her pick-up at the disposal of the district for a period of 21 days to transport victims to nearby health facilities.
Also speaking at the program, District # 3 Representative, J. Byron Brown, called on other political parties to follow the example of the Liberty Party.
He then called on county officials to join him raise one million Liberian dollars to help the district Ebola Taskforce with health materials to combat the epidemic.
In remarks, Dia-blae Statutory District Superintendent, Samuel Karmenjay, thanked the Liberty Party for identifying with citizens of the district.
He said “there will be no party and politics without the people, so when the people are endangered, it is good to come to their rescue because, only the living can support you and not the dead.”
