GBARNGA, August17 (LINA) – Steel giant ArcelorMittal has donated several health materials to the Bong County Ebola Taskforce to help it fight the deadly disease.
The donation includes 200 pieces of hand washing buckets, 40 kilograms of chlorine and 500 gallons of fuel.
The company has also promised to deposit an amount of US$5,000 into the account of the task force when opened.
Making the disclosure Friday to citizens on Radio Gbarnga via telephone, Bong County Superintendent Selena Polson Mappy thanked ArcelorMittal for the donation.
She described ArcelorMittal as “a true partner” of the people of Bong County.
According to Superintendent Mappy, the latest donation has immensely boosted the capacity of the taskforce as it endeavors to sensitize citizens on preventive measures as well as supply them with buckets and disinfectants.
She said she will begin distribution of the materials on Monday, August 18, to all districts in Bong County, an exercise planned to last about a week due to distance and the size of the districts.
“We have already begun the process of opening a bank account for the taskforce and upon completion, we will immediately communicate the account number to donors to deposit funds in it,” said Superintendent Mappy.
Already, Bong County has organized several taskforces, including the County Level Ebola Taskforce, Ebola Response Taskforce of the County Health Team and district level taskforces comprising the District Commissioners, General Town Chiefs and District Health Officers, among others.
