Rep. Anderson Warns Against Ebola Denial
By Robert Dixon
MONROVIA, August 16 (LINA) -Montserrado County Representative Richmond Anderson has warned Liberians against doubting the existence of Ebola in the country.
He regretted that despite the massive awareness campaign being conducted by the Liberian Government and partners, some Liberians still doubt the existence of the virus.
According to the Liberia News Agency, Representative Anderson, who represents District 2, gave the warning Saturday in an interview with reporters at his residence in the Township of Gardnersville, on the outskirts of Monrovia.
He said the Ebola virus has spread to several counties in Liberia because people are still doubting the existence of the disease and refusing to adhere to the preventive measures outlined by the Ministry of Health.
Rep. Anderson disclosed that he has launched a campaign co-named “Operation kick Ebola out of Montserrado County Electoral District #12”, as a means of buttressing government’s effort to prevent the spread of the disease through dissemination of anti-Ebola messages in the district.
He said the campaign is gaining momentum and yielding fruitful results, noting that citizens of the District are now beginning to abide by the Health Ministry’s preventive measures.
He disclosed that he is currently sponsoring a project initiated by the Youth Council of the District to carry out a massive clean-up campaign in the entire district.
