Lawmaker Urges Rapid Response To Ebola Victims
By Prince Nagbe

MONROVIA, August 15 (LINA) -Montserrado County Representative Solomon George has called on the National Taskforce on Ebola to set up mechanisms for rapid response to calls from communities on suspected cases of Ebola.

George, who represents District 7, made the call Thursday at a program marking the donation of a vehicle and assorted medical equipment by
Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Liberia Telecommunications Authority, and Liberia Telecommunications Corporation to the National
Taskforce on Ebola in Monrovia.

He said one of the reasons for the increase in the Ebola death rate was the slow pace at which health workers respond to calls by community residents to come to the aid of suspected Ebola patients.

“Let us save the lives of our people who are dying by responding quickly to calls from communities that are reporting cases of Ebola as the disease is rapidly spreading,” Representative George asserted.

He urged the National Taskforce to rapidly distribute equipment and medical supplies donated to health workers directly involved with Ebola victims, as they are most exposed to the deadly virus.

Lawmaker George also admonished Liberians not to take the issue of Ebola lightly by denying the existence of the disease in the country, stressing, “Ebola is not a joke; it is real and it is killing our people”.
