Man, 23, Rapes Girl, 17, in Klay

TUBMANBURG, Jan 18 (LINA) - Police in Bomi County on Friday charged a 23-year-old man for allegedly raping a girl, 17,  in Klay Town, Bomi County.

Defendant Samuel Sumo allegedly committed the act on January 13, 2014.

According to the Police Charge Sheet, the victim was selling bread when the defendant called her to his house.

The charge sheet said defendant Sumo took a piece of the bread and invited the victim into his house to pay for the bread.

The Police Charge Sheet said while the victim was waiting for the money, defendant Sumo forced her into his room and sexually abused her.

The Police Charge Sheet signed by Detective Korto G. Foloboi and read in the Tubmanburg Magisterial Court said the action of defendant Sumo is in violation of the Revised Penal Code of Liberia.

The Charge Sheet further said Defendant Sumo admitted having sex with the victim two times in two months. However, he denied having sex with her on the day and date mentioned in the writ.

Defendant Sumo has been remanded at the Tubmanburg Prison Compound awaiting court trial.
