Engineer Vouches For Road Maintenance Funds
By Ballah M. Kollie

GBARNGA, Jan 18 (LINA) - Bong County Resident Engineer Emulus Toliver is calling on authorities of the county to make allocation in the County Development Fund for the maintenance of roads.

He told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) Friday in Gbarnga that unless the county leadership makes money available for routine maintenance of roads, efforts by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) to rehabilitate feeder roads could be a waste of needed resources.

He said since 2010, SIDA has spent more than US$15 million on rehabilitation of feeder roads in Salala, Sanoyea, Suakoko, Zota and Kpanta Districts in the county.

He said all of these roads have been completed 100 percent for the past two years, but need to be routinely maintained.

“SIDA will not always be here; so we need to prepare to take over from them,” cautioned Mr. Toliver.
