Bong Health Official Craves For Ambulance

By Ballah Kollie, LINA Bong County Correspondent
GBARNGA, August 5 (LINA) – The head of the Bong County Health Team (CHT) has observed that the absence of an ambulance and other key logistics is hampering Ebola interventions.

According to Dr. Samson K. Arzoaquoi, all ambulances in the county have broken down, while there is shortage of protective gears and body bags for burial of corpses.

Addressing the regular Ebola Response Task Force Meeting Monday at Phebe hospital in Suakoko, Dr. Arzoaquoi said though specimen collection remains a challenge, three of those sent to the testing lab have proven negative.

He reported five community deaths and four household deaths in Balaketerla village in Salala District, all of which he said were professionally handled by county burial team.

He disclosed that due to the lack of burial bag, the team is currently using plastic sheets to bury the dead.

“The Bong County Health Team, in collaboration with the police, is overwhelmed though we continue to receive threats from some communities,” noted CHO Arzoaquoi.

Meanwhile, the surveillance team is tracing a health worker who is believed to have treated a confirmed Ebola case in Rivercess County and escaped to Bong.

He is being traced along with two other persons and the driver with whom he traveled from Rivercess County.
